Young Learners Experience Democracy in Action
Today, our students from Year 1 to Year 6 had a unique and exciting opportunity to take part in an election process at school. The exercise was designed to give our young learners firsthand experience of how democratic elections are conducted, fostering values of responsibility, fairness, and civic participation.
With the support of materials from the National Electoral Commission (NEC) and under the careful guidance of Mr. Moses together with selected teachers, the election process was carried out in a highly organized and transparent manner. From casting of votes, to observing voting rules, students were able to walk through each step of the process just like in a real election.
Once voting closed, the tallying of votes began immediately, allowing learners to see how results are compiled and announced. The activity was not only engaging but also an important lesson in teamwork, integrity, and accountability.
We are proud of our students for participating enthusiastically and of our teachers for ensuring that the exercise ran smoothly. This memorable experience is sure to inspire in our learners a deeper appreciation of civic duty and democratic values.
